its a real shame, but Makita tools aren't what they used to be
David, 05/09/2023My son Electrician has had 3 of these develop a fault. The previous model lasted years but this new model doesn't seem reliable. I think that Makita have changed the motor design. I'd be interested to know if we've been unlucky or have Makita developed a bad one.

Marcus, 08/09/2022Great combi drill apart from very poor chuck, the chuck on the previous top model DHP481 is far superior, the 486 had to be sent back after only 1 week of use so the chuck on the 486 is a real step backwards for makita unfortunately, the 481 is 4 years in & still going strong shame they stopped making it.

Ash, 13/11/2021A really good professional quality drill. Excellent trigger control, loads of torque. Makes my other cordless Makita drills feel a bit lacking. A nice addition is the clamp on grip which nicely locates nicely against your chest to provide a more secure hold under high torque drilling/screwing. It's a good inch shorter than all my other drills but a little wider. The only tiny minus is the drill is quite heavy but that's probably because of the gearbox housing which is metal. Nice job, FFX!
